MOUNT VERNON — The county’s five-year financial forecast was discussed Thursday morning when the Knox County elected officials met at the Knox County Service Center. In attendance were James Ronk, Mary Jo Hawkins, Jonette Curry, John Lybarger, John Thatcher and commissioners Teresa Bemiller, Roger Reed and Allen Stockberger.
County commissioners met recently with representatives from Public Finance Resources Inc. to review a financial forecast and analysis plan regarding income and expenses. The plan’s goal is to help public financial leaders make decisions proactively and incrementally in anticipation of future operating periods.
“Any detail we know, we can capture in this program. Anything that triggers lost revenue or added revenue can be thrown in there, and the same thing with expenditures, and then we can track it going forward,” explained Curry in telling how the program will work in projecting financial standing.
“It’s a model plan. And it’s still in the works. But there’s been no entry of monthly data,” said Curry. “There’s still some tweaking because there are things we don’t know about yet.”
