One juvenile was taken to Knox Community Hospital for minor injuries following a one-vehicle accident at 3:23 p.m. Tuesday on Lower Gambier Road, one mile east of Mount Vernon Avenue. The driver of this Saturn lost control while traveling westbound, struck an embankment on the right side and came to rest on the left side of the roadway. Responding to the scene were the Mount Vernon Fire Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. One female passenger was uninjured. Heavy damage was sustained to the driver’s side and rear of the vehicle. No other details were available at press time. (Photo by Alan Reed)
Baker Bros., inside Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Hunter Hall on South Main Street, was the site of the May edition of the Knox County Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours on Tuesday afternoon. Visitors had the chance to enjoy food samples and view the downtown eatery which features sandwiches, wraps, salads, fresh fruit and Starbucks coffee products. University President Dan Martin stated that MVNU is happy to be downtown with Baker Bros. as their newest installment. He explained that the name came from the Baker brothers who, in the late 1800s, owned the empty lot up the street where the former Kresge building was located.
