MOUNT VERNON — A 22-month-old Mount Vernon child is home from Nationwide Children’s Hospital following surgery after an accident with a chainsaw Thursday afternoon. The child reportedly slipped away from his older brothers who were watching him and ran into a nearby alley where his father was cutting wood. As the child approached his father, his nose was grazed with the chainsaw, causing a superficial wound, his mother told the News.
He was taken to Knox Community Hospital by the Mount Vernon Fire Department and later transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital by MedFlight. Successful surgery was completed quickly, and the child returned home Friday.
“He’s fine and is as spunky as ever. Somebody was watching over him,” said his mother.
