MOUNT VERNON — Action was taken on contracts, agreements and personnel matters Wednesday evening when the Knox County Board of Health met at the Knox County Health Department.
A hearing took place for approval of the registration for Robert Wilson to become a registered installer for household sewage systems in Knox County. Health commissioner Julie Miller said that Wilson had previously served in this capacity and had his license revoked and was asking the board for approval of re-registration. Approval was granted with the condition of close monitoring.
Approval was given for the continuation for Dr. Emerson Laird to volunteer as medical director. Laird had previously been approved for paid employment in April. The board then learned that a 60-day public notice must be given before Laird can resume his employment. He will continue to serve as a volunteer in the meantime.
Personnel action included the resignation of Amy Schuman as dental hygienist; an increase in hours from two days to three days per week for Laura Nance as dental hygienist; and a title change for Ann Fisher from Help Me Grow project director to Social Service program director.
Contracts approved were with Mohican Rehabilitation Services for physical and occupational therapy; Vicky Lacksonen as occupational therapist through May 2013; Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and United Health Care as preferred providers for medical services; Ohio Department of Health for Vaccine For Children provider enrollment; Central Ohio Technical College for registered and practical nursing student clinic placement; and Ann Luna as a speech therapist.
The board of health also gave approval for establishing committees for personnel, finance and environmental health for 2012-13; and to purchase adulticide mosquito spray from Clarke Mosquito Control Products.
The board will next meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the health department.
