A joint effort of law enforcement officials took place Saturday night in Mount Vernon in an effort get people who drink and drive off the road. An OVI checkpoint was set up on South Main Street to stop motorists and ask them questions about their drinking and driving habits. Observing the efforts of the officers were State Rep. Margaret Ann Ruhl and Ohio Congressman Bob Gibbs. Four individuals were stopped and identified as violators of having too high a blood alcohol content.
