  • Residents at Autumn Healthcare Inc. at 1139 Gambier Road were evacuated this morning when the Mount Vernon Fire Department was called to the facility shortly before 10 a.m. MVFD Chief Chris Menapace reported that a light in a bathroom had overheated, producing light smoke. No visible flames were reported. A nurse at the facility discharged a fire extinguisher to keep the situation under control. Electricity was shut off for a brief period, and the residents were returned inside once the facility was determined to be safe. No injuries were reported. style=
