FREDERICKTOWN — Fredericktown Village Council has 30 days to fill the vacancy created by the death of Councilman Paul Seymour last week. Seymour, 74, died May 28.
Mayor Alan Kintner said he understands that in the past when a vacancy has occurred, council has asked the next largest vote-getter in the previous election if he or she is interested, but in the most recent race there were only three candidates for three open seats.
He expects that council will discuss the situation with the village solicitor at its meeting Monday. He expects council will ask interested citizens to come forward and then will probably vote on a choice at the meeting on June 18.
Kintner said citizens interested in the post can call the village office at 694-9010 to find out how to apply.
