MOUNT VERNON — Knox County residents will have the opportunity to support the Shriners Hospitals for Children this week when members of the Baldwin Shrine Club of Knox County conduct their annual Tabloid Days drive on Friday and Saturday.
Donations will be collected for the Shriners’ tabloids which are full of positive stories of children who have received life-saving care at one of the many Shriners Hospitals. Aladdin Shriners will be stationed this Friday and Saturday in Mount Vernon at Walmart, Kmart and Neff’s Supermarket; in Danville at Dale’s Cardinal Market; in Fredericktown at Haldeman’s Fresh Foods; and at the entrance to Apple Valley selling the tabloids with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Local funds collected will go toward Shriners Hospitals in Cincinnati, Erie, Pa, and Lexington, Ky. These are hospitals which specialize in pediatric care, burns and spinal cord injuries.
Shriners Hospitals offer free care for parents who are unable to pay hospital bills for their children. Parents with insurance also have the option of using their insurance as a means to support Shriners Hospitals which are funded all through donations and fund raisers.
