MOUNT VERNON — A little recognition for a job well done was shared with the Knox County Commissioners on Monday morning when they met for an update with Jobs and Family Services Director Matthew Kurtz. An announcement was shared by Kurtz that the multi-county project known as Collabor8 Virtual Call Center had been selected as “Best of Category in Human Services” by the National Association of Counties. The Collabor8 program was also designated to receive a NACO Achievement Award for 2012. Counties partnering in the program are Delaware, Hancock, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Sandusky and Wood.

The program utilizes call center and digital case management technology to provide access to public assistance programs across the participating counties while sharing the counties’ resources.

“We’re happy and proud and excited that they recognized us this way,” said Kurtz about the notification receiving these awards. This was not the first time that Knox County JFS was part of NACO’s national awards. Kurtz said that in 1994, an award was presented to the Opportunity Knox program. “Nearly 20 years later we’re back in the spotlight,” beamed Kurtz.
