MOUNT VERNON — The next phase of work on Coshocton Avenue will be in the area of Ruby Tuesday restaurant, city engineer Cameron Keaton reported. Work will begin Tuesday on the entrance between Ruby Tuesday and Arby’s, which will be enlarged, while the Arby’s entrance will be a right in/right out arrangement. Traffic in the vicinity will be restricted to one lane each way.
Keaton talked about that and other city projects at the News’ weekly meeting with Mayor Richard Mavis.
Keaton also reported that the city has been awarded grant money for the improvements at the intersections of Sandusky and Chestnut streets and Sandusky and West High streets. The $250,000 grant from the state will allow the reconstruction of the intersections to increase the turning radius and move a utility pole to make it easier for Rolls-Royce to haul its extra-large products away from the factory and for United Precast to move longer items from its facility.
“We want to get this project moving as quickly as we can,” Keaton said, “but it will probably be spring work. There’s a four- to six-month wait on the signal poles and there is asphalt work, so we have to do it when hot mix is available.”
