MOUNT VERNON — The city of Mount Vernon is ready for next week’s Fourth of July festivities at Memorial Park on Tuesday, July 3.
Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Mavis told council fireworks are set to light up the sky at 10 p.m.
For those looking for family-friendly activities to keep the kids busy during the evening hours awaiting that first big boom, the Mount Vernon Baseball Association will offer entertainment from SuperGames, according to Troy Gallagher, league representative.
Six activities, including giant inflatables and a rock climbing wall will be available in the outfield of the Babe Ruth field. A special wrist band will be available for purchase to allow families to participate in the fun from 3 to 9 p.m.
Concessionaires will also be available in the park.
Mount Vernon Fire Chief Chris Menapace urges those in attendance to be patient at the conclusion of the fireworks.
