The event is sponsored by the Heart of Ohio Women’s Club as a fundraiser for the women’s club. Master of Ceremonies and Women’s Club member Candy McCracken explained that contestants must register for the event by the end of May. Then the contestants begin raising 1 cent per vote and the contestant in each category who raises the most money is awarded the title. This year the contestants raised almost $1,400 for the Women’s Club current project. The club plans to raise money to have murals of Centerburg from days gone by painted downtown. Over the last 10 years, the contestants collectively have raised over $20,000 that has been used for various projects.

Little Uncle Sammy Scurlock is the 5-year-old son of Amanda Thompson of Centerburg. He enjoys playing soccer and T-ball. He also enjoys fishing and riding his bike and scooter. He is active at Enterprise Baptist Church and his favorite foods are pizza and pasta. He wants to be a policeman when he grows up.
