MOUNT VERNON — Power outages from Friday’s windstorm have had a direct impact on numerous businesses around Knox County.
Dale’s Cardinal Market in Danville was without power from Friday evening until about 4 a.m. Saturday. “We have a small generator and were able to run a register and some lights,” said manager Mike Hammond. Meat cases were pulled out and put in a cooler to keep them cold. Dairy products were stored behind plastic sheets to keep the cold in as well. “We kind of lucked out. It was good timing as we usually close in the evening,” said Hammond.
Dale’s ran out of bottled water on Saturday and was also low on ice. Hammond said that business since Saturday has been extremely busy. “They’ve been coming in from all over.”
