MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County compost site on Thayer Road southeast of Ohio 3/U.S. 36 will remain to be open 24 hours a day until 4 p.m. Wednesday. These extended hours are being offered to give county residents the opportunity to dispose of tree and yard cleanup items following the June 29 windstorm. After the closing at 4 p.m. Wednesday, normal hours of operation will resume, which are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Those utilizing the services of the compost site are reminded not to dump items at the gate of the facility. Areas for specific items are posted for tree limbs/branches, grass clippings and mulch.
