MOUNT VERNON — Daniel J. Morgan, 30, Martinsburg, was convicted of two counts of witness intimidation and one count of violating a temporary protective order. Morgan was sentenced Friday to 12 months in prison.
Thatcher said on Aug. 16, 2011, Morgan violated the TPO his live-in girlfriend filed against him by having contact with her during a domestic disturbance. Morgan also threatened two witnesses with physical harm, if they reported the incident to authorities. Deputy Charles Statler, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.
On Dec. 9, 2011, Robert E. Smith, 24, Fredericktown, was convicted of attempted domestic violence and he was sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision. Smith’s supervision was revoked today because he had prohibited contact with the victim. Smith was sentenced to 11 months in prison.
On Sept. 30, 2011, Cyle E. Cunningham, 21, Danville, was convicted of attempted domestic violence and he was sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision. Cunningham’s supervision was revoked Friday because he was convicted recently of petty theft. Cunningham was sentenced to 270 days in jail.
Steven D. Miller Jr., 25, Mount Vernon, was convicted of forgery for his role in the theft of blank checks on Oct. 14, 2011. Miller was sentenced to 180 days in jail and three years of community control supervision. Miller will serve an 11-month prison term if he violates his supervision. Patrolman Tharp, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.
James R. Frye, 31, Mount Vernon, was convicted of attempted abduction for trying to restrain a female victim during a domestic disturbance on Jan. 8. Frye was sentenced to 123 days in jail and a three-year term of community control supervision. Frye will serve a 17-month prison term, if he violates his supervision. Andrew W. Pitkiewicz, 26, Mount Vernon, was convicted of felony trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, and sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision. Pitkiewicz was ordered to submit to a drug and alcohol assessment and treatment as a condition of his supervision. Pitkiewicz will serve a 17-month prison term if he violates his supervision. Thatcher said on Dec. 21, 2011, Sgt. Al Dexter and Deputy Wayne Noggle, KCSO, caught Pitkiewicz with a co-defendant, Ryan F. Smith, 27, Mount Vernon, after Smith broke into a home on Blue Road. On May 11, Smith was sentenced to a four-year prison term for burglary, according to Thatcher.
