DANVILLE — The Danville school board on Monday commended students Mason Ansel and Julie Didinger for earning gold medals at the 2012 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America national leadership conference held in Orlando. Their project dealt with efficient energy use and recycling.
Treasurer Mary Payne told the News on Tuesday the rest of the meeting was routine.
Regarding personnel, the board granted the retirement request of cook Joanne Boone, effective Sept. 1. Boone has served the district 21 years. Steven Butcher and Paige Arthur were employed as summer band camp assistants and Ed Rezney and Lisa Muncie were hired as summer school teachers for listening therapy. The board approved extra hours for food service coordinator Gayle Beck to work on new cafeteria regulations and employed Kayla Lepley as junior high cheerleading advisor. Judy Lamb and Muncie will share the duties of high school cheerleading advisor.
