MOUNT VERNON — Numerous street, facility and improvement projects were addressed by Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Mavis when he held his weekly update with the Mount Vernon News on Friday morning. Also in attendance were Safety-Service Director Dave Glass and City Engineer Cameron Keaton.
Construction work on Coshocton Avenue has recently shifted as work now is occurring on the north side of the road, moving traffic from the north side to the south side. Two lanes of traffic are still being maintained.
A section between Center Run and Shalimar Drive was blacktopped on Thursday.
Glass said that the right in/right out islands on Coshocton Avenue are probably not marked yet as well as they should be and that improved, permanent markings may be forthcoming.
Debris cleanup from the windstorm in late June is nearly complete. What was first thought should take two weeks has extended to three weeks and is expected to be finished early next week. Mavis stated that the cleanup crews are not making second rounds in picking up storm debris.
