MOUNT VERNON — Randall Current was introduced as the newest member of the Knox County Board of Health when the board met Wednesday evening at the Knox County Health Department. Current is a Mount Vernon city appointee and replaces Burt Hanson who recently resigned his board position.
A light agenda faced the board for its July monthly meeting. Approval was given to pay the Knox County Commissioners the sum of $41,005 for the health department’s share of the county health insurance fund deficit. “This is an unexpected expense that hasn’t happened very often,” said Knox County Health Commissioner Julie Miller. She explained that there is an annual agreement that if funds get low in the county’s health insurance pool, the separate county entities each pay their portion into covering the deficit. The total funds will be pulled from numerous programs within the health department. Miller stated she will look into options of seeing if grants may be available to cover this cost.
The board voted to hold an application/permit to install a private water system on the Andy Durbin property at 15435 Howard-Danville Road until further notice.
