MOUNT GILEAD — A 16-year-old Mount Gilead girl was killed in a one-vehicle crash Thursday at 3:46 p.m. The crash occurred on County Road 46, between Ohio 19 and Township Road 97.
The girl was traveling southbound on CR 46 in a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt when it traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned. She was transported to Morrow County Hospital where she later died from her injuries. Two other juvenile passengers, a 15-year-old female and a 16-year-old male, were transported to Grant Medical Center with serious injuries.
A safety belt was in use by the driver. The male passenger was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation by the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
