MOUNT VERNON — Voting started at 6:30 this morning as residents in the Clear Fork and North Fork school districts decide on tax issues to provide for the operating expenses of the districts.

North Fork is asking district residents in Licking County as well as residents of Clay-Martinsburg, Miller and Morgan townships in Knox County to renew a 1 percent earned income tax levy which is currently in effect.

Clear Fork residents in Richland County and those in Brown and Pike townships in Knox County, are voting on whether to approve a five-year 1-percent earned income tax levy.

Earned income tax levies for schools do not pertain to retirement income, interest, dividends, capital gains, rental income, disability, survivor, welfare benefits child support, workers’ compensation or income earned by estates.

Polls close at 7:30 p.m.
