DANVILLE — The manhole replacement project in Danville just got a little bigger.
After six manholes were replaced in the village, a review by the contractor and engineer discovered that an additional five manhole frames on Market Street needed replaced.
At its meeting Monday, Danville Village Council approved the expenditure of up to an additional $20,000 for the replacement of the five extra manhole frames.
The extra money was needed because the current zero percent loan through the Ohio Water Development Authority did not have enough extra to cover this additional work. The approximate $20,000 will be added to the OWDA loan.
Canyon Construction, which completed the work on the first six manholes, will do the work on the five additional holes. The first six manholes cost approximately $2,000 each, but substantial work on one near the Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District fire house added some extra money. That concern of possible extra work, and not wanting to go back for more money later, council approved up to $20,000 for the five additional manholes.
