UTICA — The village of Utica has been approved for funding for the demolition of the Linda Oiler property on Central Avenue with the Moving Ohio Forward demolition program. This was the announcement made by village administrator Glen Richards on Monday evening when Utica Village Council met at town hall.
Resolution 12-015 was approved which authorizes participation in the demolition program and enters into a contract with the city of Newark and the Ohio Department of Development for administration of projects. Richards said he will continue to monitor the program in hopes of obtaining funds for further projects in the coming months. “This is 100 percent grant coverage and is at no cost to the village,” said Richards.
Three other agenda items received approval on the evening, all under suspension of the three-reading rule. Ordinance 12-012 was to amend Ordinances 12-005 and 12-011 for current expenses. This was necessary to correct an error of assigning numbers to previously approved ordinances.
Ordinance 12-013 allows council to approve, adopt and enact the 2012 replacement pages to the codified ordinances, to repeal conflicting ordinances and to publish the enactment of the matter.
