BRANDON — Ohio 661 south of Brandon between Berger and Butcher roads has been closed since Monday for a culvert replacement project. Ohio Department of Transportation news media representative Michelle Croom said that an existing 48-inch metal pipe is being upgraded to a 56-inch concrete eliptical culvert. The installation of the new culvert, along with better alignment with a nearby drainage ditch, should alleviate problems of excess water collecting in a nearby field after heavy rains.
A Knox County ODOT crew will be performing the work at an estimated cost of $38,000. Expected completion date is Aug. 24, and a posted detour route is Ohio 13 and U.S. 62. Additional culvert replacements and road closures are scheduled on Ohio 661 by ODOT with dates yet to be determined.
