MILLWOOD — Chants of O-H I-O were heard when alumni, friends and fans of The Ohio State University were treated to a spirited rally Wednesday afternoon when OSU President E. Gordon Gee made a stop in Knox County near Millwood. The rally was part of a 44-county tour across Ohio, with Knox County being the final tour stop on Wednesday. The event was hosted by Rick and Libby Germain in their beautifully-restored 19th-century barn, recently rebuilt after being moved from the Fredericktown area.
The purpose of the event was “To thank the people of Ohio for bringing in a great university which makes a difference to every Ohioan,” according to Gee.
Visitors were greeted by tour staff members with OSU gifts and refreshments, complete with chocolate and peanut butter buckeyes, with OSU megaphones and pom-poms adorning each table. Applause greeted Gee as he entered the barn, surrounded by Brutus Buckeye, university cheerleaders and OSU students traveling with the tour.
