MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Commissioners on Thursday got a virtual tour of water well No. 2, which has recently been cleaned. Knox County Water/Wastewater superintendent Ray Withers showed videos of the inside of the well before it was cleaned and after it was cleaned.

Withers said the wells are cleaned about once a decade, and the technology today enables a closer look at the condition of the interior of the wells.

Withers also discussed some concerns with the plans for the wastewater treatment plant under construction in Howard. He is requesting permission to submit change orders to enlarge the centrifuge room to allow for more space to store polymers and to insulate the walls of the sludge storage area to keep the sludge from freezing in cold weather.
