On Monday, council members took a look at two different designs created by Signline Graphics for signs that will be placed at the village limits on U.S. 62.

After some discussion, members decided on one that includes the village logo in the middle and “Welcome to the Village of” at the top of a 40-by-80-inch sign. The signs will have a 3-D effect as the ribbon around the village logo will be raised, as will the name “Danville” in the center. It will also include the year the village was founded (1813) and “Gateway to Amish Country” on the bottom portion of the sign.

The sign incorporates designs created by students from Janet Marsano’s art class at Danville. Council members agreed it would be nice to place the students’ names and year on the back of the signs.

The signs, which will be placed between two stone pillars, will cost $1,200 each. Council will vote whether to approve the expenditure of money for the signs at its next meeting, Wednesday, Sept. 5.
