MOUNT VERNON — Traffic will back up on Coshocton Road this week as paving begins on the section being widened between Kroger and Center Street.
City Engineer Cameron Keaton said Kokosing Construction, a sub-contractor on the project, expects to start milling and paving Tuesday morning. While the paving is going on, traffic will be restricted to one lane.
Keaton said the contractor hopes to have the paving of the north side of the street completed by noon Friday, so the road can be open for the holiday weekend.
Construction will return Tuesday, Sept. 4, as traffic is moved to the newly paved section and work begins on the curbing and other work on the south side of the road. However, two lanes of traffic will be maintained, Keaton said.
Keaton also reported that Rolls Royce expects to start setting panels of its new building in place Monday. Assembly of the building should take about 10 days. Traffic in the area should not be affected.
A pre-demolition meeting is set for Monday on the demolition of the two houses at the intersection of Sandusky and High streets, Keaton said. The county has approved the use of Moving Ohio Forward funds for the demolition.
