BLADENSBURG — A 14-year-old youth is in critical but stable condition at Nationwide Children’s Hospital following an all-terrain vehicle crash Aug. 23 on Frampton Road near Bladensburg.
Colton Frost, a freshman at East Knox High School, was going home after fishing with a friend when a deer crossed in front of him, causing him to be thrown from the ATV and into a nearby ditch. Responding to the accident were the Ohio Highway Patrol, Bladensburg Fire Department and Maryann Township Fire Department. He was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital by Air-Evac of St. Louisville.
Colton’s mother, Patty Frost, told the News that Colton was wearing his helmet but still sustained severe head trauma. No other serious injuries were apparent. While doctors are monitoring the condition of Colton’s brain, they state his prognosis is good, but they expect much physical therapy will follow. Mrs. Frost wishes to extend a thanks to the community for their thoughts and prayers following Colton’s accident.
A benefit dinner is being planned for Colton from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Bladensburg Elementary School with a silent auction. A T-shirt sale is also taking place to raise funds to help cover Colton’s medical expenses.
