MILLWOOD — An Indiana man was killed in a one-car crash Monday at 9:58 p.m., on U.S. 62. on a hill just south of Millwood.
Devon Lambright, 20, Topeka, Ind., was ejected and pinned underneath a Pontiac van when it left the road and overturned.
Two other passengers, Sharon Lambright, 18, Topeka, Ind. and Kenneth Mullet, 21 Millersburg, Ind., were taken to Knox Community Hospital by the Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District squad. They were treated and released. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said none of them were wearing seatbelts. The patrol has not yet determined who was driving the vehicle.
They were traveling east on U.S. 62 when the van left the right side of the road, the driver overcorrected and failed to negotiate a curve. The driver then went left of center, hit a guardrail and then left the right side of the road and hit several trees.
Devon Lambright was pronounced dead at the scene by Knox County Coroner Jennifer Ogle. The EKCJFD called for a rescue squad from College Township to provide additional medical assistance. The patrol said alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
