FREDERICKTOWN — Village council had a short meeting Tuesday evening as the village prepared for the opening of its annual Tomato Show today.
Only a pair of resolutions were on the agenda and council acted on information presented by Mayor Alan Kintner on the cost of repairing nine pieces of furniture at the Fredericktown branch library.
To replace the furniture would cost about $6,000, he reported, but to have the pieces re-upholstered with a heavy fabric would cost about $3,600. Accordingly, council voted 5-0 (council member Dave Glass was absent) to transfer $4,000 to the library maintenance fund to restore the furniture.
Kintner said the company that gave the $3,600 estimate was One More Time Upholstery of Mount Vernon. Another firm had estimated a cost of $5,500.
The resolutions passed were to approve the Solid Waste Management District Plan update and accepting the tax rates from the Knox County Budget Commission.
The plan has to be approved by the governing bodies representing a majority of the population in the district, which includes Delaware, Knox, Marion and Morrow counties.
