FREDERICKTOWN — A group of teachers from Fredericktown Elementary School won the “Best Overall” award at the lip sync contest at the annual Fredericktown Tomato Show.
The teachers (plus two of their children), who called themselves “Schoolhouse Rock,” performed to a medley of tunes under the title of “Dance Evolution.”
Group spokesperson Laura Andrew said they had spent about a week working on their dance steps for the show.
On the other hand David Morris, who with Jessica Sexton and Oliver Childers, won the Best Theme Award for “Live Like You Were Dying” and also took a first-place award (for a solo) and a pair of seconds, said he and his sister, Miriam, started working on their acts “as soon as the themes were announced.”
He said Miriam planned most of their moves, but he did most of the planning for his solo himself.
The third major award, for Best Costume, went to Gracie Sipes and Riley Rine, who took first place for “Platoon” and the category of solo or duet, up to 8 years old.
