MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Commissioners Roger Reed, Allen Stockberger and Teresa Bemiller heard from officials Thursday regarding storm sewer and sidewalk replacements in Danville. The project addresses deteriorating sidewalks and an ineffective storm sewer that is partially filled with sediment and vegetation on East Main Street, which is part of U.S. 62.
Bird & Bull Inc. engineer Chuck Coghlan, Danville village administrator Robert Shipley, and county grant consultant Amy Schocken discussed the plans with the commissioners and presented photos of the storm sewer drain and sidewalks.
Coghlan said, “The north side of the road has no storm drainage and poor sidewalks.”
When Stockberger asked about the cost, Coghlan responded, “We’re concerned about the budget. We didn’t realize there’s underground utilities.”
