MOUNT VERNON — The deadline for registration and changes of address to vote in the Nov. 6 General Elections is Oct. 9.
The Board of Elections will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. for regular business hours, Monday through Friday beginning Oct. 2 (except holidays). The board office will be open Oct. 9 from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.
The Knox County Board of Elections is at 117 E. High St., Room 210, Mount Vernon.
Deadline for requiting absentee ballots to be mailed out is Saturday, Nov. 3 at noon.
Individuals are qualified to vote if: Person is a citizen of the United States; at least 18 years of age on Election Day; a resident of Ohio; and registered to vote in the precinct in which he or she resides at least 30 days before the election.
Individuals must notify Board of Elections, in writing, if he or she changes residence (within this county or from another Ohio county) and/or name.
Those wishing to register may apply in person, or telephone a request to have a voter registration mailed to them. Other than the Board of Elections Office, individuals may register at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles; Apple Valley Property Owners Office; or libraries at Centerburg, Danville, Gambier, Fredericktown and Mount Vernon, during regular business hours. If individual is a registered voter in any Ohio county and has moved, address changes only can be made online at the Knox County Board of Elections website.
To be valid, registration forms and all other changes must be completed and returned to the Board of Elections by the close of registration day Oct. 9.
The Knox County Board of Elections will have extended hours beginning Oct. 2 for Early Voting, Oct. 2 through 19, the hours for voting will be 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; Oct. 22 through Nov. 1, 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, (the last day of Early Voting), the hours will be 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
There will be no weekend hours for Early Voting.
