The board formally commended Beau Liming and Mitchell Peck for being named National Finalists at the 2012 National FFA Agriscience Fair and lauded Utica Elementary kindergarten teacher Jennifer Searfos for receiving the DOW Professional Excellence in Education Award. It also recognized and thanked the Utica Ecumenical Circle of Faith for providing two swings for special education.

Treasurer Jack McDonald told the News on Tuesday the rest of the meeting was largely routine.

Regarding personnel, the board granted the retirement request of bus driver Jeffrey Stahl, effective Sept. 30. Stahl has served the district 22 years. It accepted Bonnie Stout’s resignation from the position of junior class advisor and approved volunteers for the 2012-13 school year. The board awarded Joshua Spung a stipend for six days of technical preparation of iPads for the school year, employed Tabetha Hoffer as a transportation aide, retroactively effective Sept. 10, and hired James Richardson as a bus driver, also retroactive to Sept. 10. The board added to the classified substitute list and accepted the list of substitute teachers as submitted by the Licking County Educational Service Center.
