UTICA — Plans are in place for the 80th annual Utica Homecoming fall festival, scheduled for Sept. 26-29 in downtown Utica, sponsored by the Utica Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary.
The festival kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 26 with the grand parade. No registration is necessary to participate in the parade. Lineup begins at Utica High School at 5 p.m., and entries will be taken up until the start of the parade at 6:30. There will be awards for newest, oldest and farthest traveled entrants.
A homecoming welcome ceremony will immediately follow the parade at the festival stage on Spring Street in front of the firehouse. Recognized will be the annual Senior King and Queen as well as Prince and Princess. Utica Mayor Lester Grennell will give his welcome remarks to the homecoming festival as will Utica Fire Department Chief Dan Helphrey. Providing entertainment for the evening will be the Gas Pump Jockeys, playing at the homecoming stage from 8 to 10 p.m.
