MOUNT VERNON — The purchase of a 1.3-acre parcel will allow the city of Mount Vernon to clean up the South Norton Street entrance of Foundation Park.
Council voted unanimously to purchase the property for $22,500, during Monday night’s meeting. The funds, according to Safety-Service Director Dave Glass, will come from a non-taxpayer fund used specifically for park projects.
The lot sits on the northeast corner of the South Norton Street and Madison Avenue intersection.
Approval of the measure came after council two separate executive sessions, including one earlier in the evening to discuss the acquisition.
