MOUNT VERNON — Dr. Robert “Bob” Rodstrom is retiring from his practice of internal and geriatric medicine, and the community turned out in droves Thursday evening to wish him a fond farewell.
“Dr. Rodstrom is the consummate gentleman,” said Knox Community Hospital CEO Bruce White. “Not only in his professional capacity as a physician, but as an individual, he was and is a real asset to this community. He is the perfect role model for others.”
Former patients shared memories of their relationship with Rodstrom and said they will miss him. Echoing those sentiments was Perry Lentz. “I feel sad about him leaving,” Lentz said. “He was my wife’s physician, too. He always gave me a real constant feeling of well-being, even when I didn’t feel well. He’s so thoughtful, so intelligent and scrupulous in keeping abreast of medical developments. He was so generous in dealing with me and my wife. He always treated the whole person. ... He has a good sense of humor and he’s very scholarly.”
