MOUNT VERNON — According to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher, Scott C. Cosner, 26, Mount Vernon, was convicted of trafficking in heroin for selling the drug on Jan. 26. Judge Otho Eyster sentenced Cosner to a nine-month prison term. Detective Cpl. Matt Dailey and detectives James DeChant and Craig Feeney, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.
Sarah Christine, 24, Mount Vernon, was resentenced to 11 months in prison for an attempted burglary conviction. Thatcher said in 2011, Christine was sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision. Her supervision was revoked because she was caught with drug abuse instruments in July.
Christopher A. Gutridge, 20, Orlando, Fla., was convicted of attempted tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property for trying to hide a stolen handgun from Patrolman Kyle Theibert, MVPD, on May 27. Thatcher said the gun was stolen from a local sporting goods store. Gutridge was sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision, including a 180-day jail sentence.
Steven E. Cole, 32, Mount Vernon, was convicted of trafficking in cocaine and heroin and drug possession for selling both drugs on April 26. Cole was sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision, including a 90-day jail sentence. Cole will be required to submit to an out-patient drug and alcohol assessment and comply with any recommended treatment plan as a condition of his supervision. The MVPD detectives investigated the case.
December D. Rutan, 35, was convicted of aggravated possession of drugs for possessing cocaine and heroin in a Centerburg apartment Nov. 4, 2011. Rutan was sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision, and she will be required to submit to an out-patient drug and alcohol assessment and comply with any recommended treatment plan as a condition of her supervision. Lt. Gary Rohler and Detective Doug Turpen, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.
