MANSFIELD — On Saturday, the METRICH Drug Task Force along with multiple law enforcement agencies from within Seneca, Ashland, Knox, Marion and Richland counties participated in a “Prescription Drug Take Back” event.
The METRICH region agencies took in 634 pounds of medication in the one-day event. Lt. Ken Coontz stated that he received many positive comments from the community, and the participating law enforcement agencies were very pleased by the community response.A total of 88 pounds of drugs were turned in from Knox County. Other area totals included Seneca County, 72 pounds; Richland County, 180 pounds; Marion County, 186 pounds; Ashland County, 108 pounds.The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Mount Vernon Police Department have permanent drug disposal kiosks for area residents to take advantage of.
