Blendon Township Police Chief John Belford told the News that suspicious activity was reported late at night on Sept. 18. Upon issuing a search warrant, officers reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana, and a total of 48 firearms, plus numerous televisions, video games and other items were retrieved from the unit. Upon checking the serial numbers of the firearms, they were listed as stolen from burglaries in three other counties, including Knox County.

Belford said the items have been turned over to investigating agencies in each county who are to return the items to the victims.

Mount Vernon Police Department Capt. George Hartz told the News he was not informed of any recovered items. Calls to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for additional information were unreturned.
