Eager Cub Scouts from Pack 229 at St. Vincent de Paul Church climbed all over this U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter when it landed at Wynkoop Airport, Thursday evening. The crew was on a training flight and came to Mount Vernon to demonstrate the Blackhawk to the young people. The pilot, Chief Warrant Office Al Troutman, answered questions and watched over the Scouts as they played helicopter pilot in the cockpit. A giant maple tree in Riverside Park had to come down. Mount Vernon Parks Department Supervisor Geoff Oliver said the tree has been dying for the last two years. It will be replaced and other trees are to be added to the park. (Photo by Virgil Shipley)
