MOUNT VERNON — A Mount Vernon man is set for a bond hearing this afternoon after the Emergency Services Unit conducted a no knock search warrant at 457 Fairmont Ave., on Friday night.
Demonno A. Rhodes, now 35, was taken into custody and charged with felony counts of possession of cocaine and possession of heroin. According to the Mount Vernon Police Department, a female was also in the residence and charges are expected to be filed against her later this week.

Rhodes is expected to face additional charges once the investigation is complete and presented to the grand jury.
“With the help of uniformed officers, the ESU team and detectives were able to confiscate the evidence including heroin, cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash,” said Mike Merrilees, police chief, in a press release issued early this afternoon.
He added that this arrest is the result of an investigation by the MVPD in an “ongoing attempt to reduce illegal drug activity within the city.”
MVPD is a member of METRICH, a regional drug task forced based in Richland County.
