Vincent R. Hempker, 33, is in poor condition at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Anthony Morton, 27, is in fair condition in Ohio State University Medical Center.

Both were flown to Columbus in MedFlight helicopters. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said that Hempker was driving south on Johnstown Road and ran into the side of a logging truck driven by Daniel McDonald, 53, Mount Vernon. McDonald was not injured.

Rescuers from the Central Ohio Joint Fire District took about 20 minutes to cut Hempker from the 2001 Dodge Neon. The patrol said alcohol and drug impairment does no appear to by a factor. Both men were wearing seat belts.
