MOUNT VERNON — Despite information received by many Knox County residents this week through a telephone call from the Republican National Committee, the Knox County Board of Elections is not open today for early voting purposes.

County residents who have registered to vote have six more days to vote early. Those hours are:

•Monday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

•Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

•Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

•Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

•Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

•Saturday, Nov. 3, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

•Sunday, Nov. 4, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

•Monday, Nov. 5, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6, polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. Voters are reminded when arriving at the polls, they are to remove or cover any political apparel, campaign pins or items that may be considered an endorsement of a candidate or issue.
