MOUNT VERNON — The annual Mount Vernon Christmas Parade & Walk auction was the recipient of monetary gifts Thursday night as local business owners and friends raised a total of $6,280. The auction event and the Christmas Parade & Walk are produced by the Heritage Centre Association which is dedicated to enhancing the central business district and downtown Mount Vernon.
The event was held at Parkside Restaurant and raised funds to cover the expenses of the Christmas event. Patrons and supporters enjoyed hors d’oevres and mingling before the auction began. Downtown manager Carrie Crouch was a gracious hostess and encouraged guests to admire and bid on the items in the silent auction.
Auctioneer John Ruckman succeeded in drawing laughs and even better, generous bids, during the bidding for parade sponsorships. Sponsors were supportive of the event.
