MOUNT VERNON — The Newton Car Show recently presented Knox Community Hospital Foundation with a check for $2,000.
“We ask that the money be used for the Center for Cancer Care to make purchases needed to help their cancer patients,” said Elmer Newton, an esophageal cancer survivor and one of the cancer center’s first patients 18 years ago. Elmer continues to receive follow up care with Dr Husain Rasheed and staff.
Pat and Elmer Newton of Mount Vernon have organized The Newton Car Show for nine years and have graciously donated the proceeds to the KCH Foundation for the last seve years.
“We have received such great care in the facility and want to say thank you,” the couple said.
The Center for Cancer Care is located in the Knox Medical Pavilion.
These donations have helped purchase items for the cancer center, such as a tempanic thermometer, automatic blood pressure machine, and most recently, a state-of-the-art motorized stretcher.
The Newton Car Show is held each year on Labor Day at Ohio Eastern Star.
