UTICA — Numerous ordinances, many for the purpose of routine approvals and ordinance cleanup, were approved Monday evening when Utica Village Council met at town hall.
In honor of Veterans Day, Utica Mayor Lester Grennell opened the meeting by recognizing local veterans, councilman Jack Raines and zoning inspector Dean Williams, and thanking them for their service to our country.
Ordinance 12-023, establishing pay rates for village employees, received a second reading. No pay changes are planned for this coming year.
Ordinance 12-017, re-allocating income tax receipts, was passed upon receiving a third reading. Fiscal officer Anna Flaherty explained this will allow extra funds to be kept in the general fund to be used where needed, rather than being moved into capital where they then cannot be transferred.
Two similar ordinances approved were Ordinance 12-026, authorizing court costs for mayor’s court to be set by order of the court as per a prepared schedule; and Ordinance 12-027, providing for court orders setting court costs for certain minor misdemeanors (non-traffic).
