DANVILLE — The Danville school board on Monday lauded the outstanding effort of the football team in the Division VI regional championship tournament. The Blue Devils narrowly lost to Newark Catholic in the regional final game.
Treasurer Mary Payne told the News on Tuesday the rest of the meeting was largely routine, with Knox County Career Center administrator Derek Fisher as a special guest. Fisher, Payne said, introduced himself to the board and talked about improving communications between KCCC and Danville schools.
Regarding personnel, the board accepted the resignation of bus driver Christine Shannon, retroactive to Oct. 16. It also approved an unpaid leave of absence for Billie Jo Addair for the month of December, voted to compensate several teachers for participation in Race to the Top training, to be paid through RttT funds, and assigned personnel for the RttT after school program.
Randolph Douglas was approved as a parent volunteer to use his private vehicle to transport upper level English students to Ashland University, Elizabeth Looney was accepted as volunteer assistant junior high girls basketball coach and Noel Alden as volunteer legal advisor for Mock Trial.
