MOUNT VERNON — The cold weather has blown into town just in time to start the Christmas season. Temperatures might be on the chilly side on Sunday, but organizers are prepared for record crowds during Sunday’s Christmas Walk and Parade.
A total of 84 entries have been assigned numbers and will be ready to entertain those in downtown Mount Vernon starting at 2:30 p.m.
Those with parade entries can start to line up at 11 a.m. at United Precast on Howard Street. Judging starts at noon.
Only those vehicles that will be in the parade will be permitted inside the staging area.
The parade will leave Howard Street and move toward South Main Street. From there, it will turn north and follow through downtown to Public Square. At this point it will travel clockwise around the square, in front of City Hall where it will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable channel 9. Those in the parade are encouraged to wave at the camera on the second floor of City Hall.
