WALHONDING — A 10-year-old Coshocton County girl died Friday at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus from injuries sustained from an ATV accident on Thursday, Nov. 22.
Shea Maurer was riding a John Deere Gator on her father’s property on Coshocton County Road 368 Thursday afternoon. Her father, Charles Maurer, discovered her pinned underneath the ATV.
According to the report from the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Maurer did not witness the accident but believes his daughter slid down an embankment, struck a pole and rolled over. She reportedly had sustained a blow to the head which was bleeding, and her foot was pinned under the ATV. Coshocton County EMS and Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District provided emergency medical treatment as did Med Flight which took Shea to Children’s Hospital.
